After three months of driving it I must conclude that I hate it.Here are just a few things that are wrong with it:- The 1.4 engine (vs. The 2021 model is a completely different thing. The e-Golf uses an electric motor and has an estimated range of 83 miles.
No improvement here.- The engine bay has zero sound insulation in the 2021 model. Which had a more powerful and much more pleasant 1.8 engine.- The muffler is awfully loud, and when the engine is running at about 1,500 revs under mild load, it comes into resonance with the engine which produces very annoying noise.- The sunroof is creaky, although my 2017 model had the exact same problem. And when you do, the fuel consumption goes up to about the same level as my old 2017 Golf. To summarize: in the 2021 model you get a smaller, weaker and overall less pleasant engine than in 2017 which has the same real-life fuel consumption (see below) for the same money.- The fuel efficiency that VW claims only holds up if you barely touch the accelerator, but because the engine is so weak, you have to push it a lot harder just to keep up with traffic. It vibrates like a diesel, especially while idling at a stop light. It has virtually no power until 2,000 revs and "deflates" shortly after 4,000 revs.
Really no reason to choose the 2021 Golf over its competition.
